Stutter

When Stuttering Isn’t a Problem Anymore

I decided to completely scrap the previous content I had planned out because it didn’t feel relevant to my current situation. With all of this COVID19 business, stuttering just doesn’t feel like it’s a problem anymore. Or even a nuisance. It’s honestly not even a blimp on my radar these days.

Why is that?

I don’t know. I’ve seen other people share how quarantine is affecting their speech, but for me I feel…nothing. I talk to my parents, my boyfriend, my coworkers, and my friends over zoom chats. And I still stutter, I just don’t have any emotion attached to it recently. Which is also why I haven’t blogged about it in a while.

I think when life picks back up, I’ll start blogging more about stuttering. I’ll be talking to more people face-to-face again, encountering more strangers, and just speaking more in general. I’m excited for it. I know we won’t just press a button and go back to normal (in fact, I don’t think we will ever be quite back to normal. Things will always be a bit different after this pandemic). I’m excited to communicate with people again. And I mean organic, face-to-face, reading emotions and social cues kind of communication. Phone conversations and video chats just aren’t the same. I do wonder how my speech will be once I start talking to more people outside of my quarantine bubble. Will I be more self conscious? Will I stutter more? Or will I be so happy to talk to people face-to-face that I won’t even care if I stutter?

I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m excited to find out!

So to conclude, stuttering hasn’t been a mind-consuming topic as of recent, and if any of you are experiencing that as well, you’re not the only ones. We just aren’t experiencing the same thing as the majority, and that’s okay! I do hope everyone is staying safe and practicing social distancing and taking precautions when making essential trips. The more we band together and do this, the faster we’ll come down from the curve. We got this!

In the meantime, I’m itching to create new spring and summer outfits for when I do leave my house in my post-pandemic life. But I might also throw in a stuttering topic in if I’m feeling inspired. We’ll see 🙂

Thanks for reading my ramble!
