Warm Falls

Hiya friends! My current set up as I write this post is ugg slippers, oversized sweatshirt, and a warm fireplace with a fall scented candle…quite the opposite of a “warm fall” haha! Although it has juuuust changed over to legitimate fall weather in Maryland,  it was 80 degrees last week! …which meant I had to wait a little longer before I pulled out all the cozy things. Therefore, I had to get a little creative with my wardrobe so I could still follow the *basic* fall trends while not sweating to death. I think mixing summer silhouettes with fall colors is a great way to dress for a warm fall. For me, I mixed my corduroy skirt with sandals, summer bandanas, and even a straw purse!

I loved pairing this skirt with a multitude of t shirts. Basic white, velvet navy, stripes, you name it! I felt like this was a great transition piece because it was a fall color and material, yet it was still appropriate for warm weather. As far as footwear goes, I was oh so happy that I could keep wearing sandals. I do love me a good ol’ pair of boots, but it is SO much easier to slip on a pair of comfy sandals (they also take up way less room in your suitcase!).  I never thought I’d pair Tevas or Birkenstocks with a corduroy skirt, but I ended up loving it! I still felt like “me” while following some popular fall trends. It’s hard sometimes to bring originality into a trendy outfit, but I say the more you experiment, the better!

*disclosure: it may be a *little* hard to perform the bend and snap in this skirt without flashing your booty, so make sure anything you drop on the ground is something you can confidently part with*

It’s unlikely the temperatures will get real hot again, but if they do, I can look back on this for a little inspiration. In the meantime, it’s time to cozy up in thicker sweaters and wool socks! Happy Fall, and have a lovely Sunday!

xoxo
