Olney Farmers Market

The other weekend Ryan and I strolled through the Olney Farmers and Artisans Market and had such a lovely day (which also consisted of a good workout, a restful nap, and binge watching session of Netflix). Could a day get any better than that? Nope, not in my books! (well, unless it included some yummy donuts or ice cream..hah!).

Truth be told, even though I’ve lived in Olney for basically my entire life (translaton: Love this town, but hoping to move somewhere new ASAP!), I’ve never spent much time at the farmers market. I’ve gone a few times before and eaten a breakfast burrito (which is pretty tasty!) and briefly browsed a few vendors, but hadn’t stayed and actually looked around much. This time I got a good look at the vendors and discovered some hidden gems! Seriously, there’s so many wonderful local businesses that are awesome. From delicious empanadas, crepes, and fresh mango iced tea to essential oils and knife sharpening (which apparently is a thing at markets), you can really learn a lot from browsing around.

I found some amazing pieces – like sea glass pictures, essential oils, and some darn tasty bread that I’d like to purchase next time I’m there. My family loves to purchase fresh tomatoes and broccolini (which we discovered for the first time at the farmers market!) to cook for dinners. Their flower selection is really pretty too! If you’re in Olney and have never been to the farmers market, I highly suggest going! It’s a great way to shop local and support small businesses. Shopping local is especially important to me because I’ve worked for a small business for several years. I also want to support the community that gave me such a wonderful childhood. Even though prices can be a little higher, I don’t mind shelling out a few extra bucks to support local businesses! I know my money is going to something and someone worthwhile.

Check out some snaps of the Olney farmers market below, and to find out more information like which vendors and local businesses will be in attendance, visit the market’s Facebook page and website.
