My Favorite Fall Lipsticks
Hi friends! Today I’m extra excited to share this blog post because it’s the start of a NEW topic – beauty! Featuring my favorite fall lipsticks. For a long time, I’ve been obsessed with makeup and skincare. However, my version of “obsessed” is probably different than most others. Instead of constantly testing out hundred products and hoarding all different kinds of things in my bathroom cabinet and drawers, I tend to stick to only a few brands and use the same products over and over again. If it isn’t broke, why fix it? That’s why I figured it was time to blog about the products I’ve been using for years. And since my little corner of the internet isn’t all that popular, you know this is a really honest review that’s totally #unsponsored. But, if my favorite brands wanted to sponsor me, I wouldn’t say no, haha!
My History with Merle Norman
This first post is dedicated to my favorite makeup brand of all time: Merle Norman. I’ve been working at a local Merle Norman studio since my sophomore year of college. Before that, I was introduced to the brand via stealing my mom’s Merle Norman lip pencils (in the shade sweet marmalade to be exact!) when I first got into makeup. My mom taught me that good quality makeup is really the only option if you want to look put together. So, when a local Merle Norman studio opened up in my hometown, I applied and immediately became even more in love with the products. Because of this job, I’ve been able to try a lot of products and experiment with different kinds of looks. Merle Norman’s philosophy is try before you buy, which is one of the reasons I love them and our local studio so much.
With the ability to try before you buy (or test before invest…you get the point haha), I’ve been able to find a lot of really great products that have become a part of my everyday routine. The most recent products I’ve incorporated into my makeup routine are the new fall liquid lip colors. Merle Norman launches new products every season, and this fall they launched six new matte lipsticks and they’re GORGEOUS. Like seriously, so so so pretty. They’re featured a lot on Merle Norman’s Instagram page. They last a while (but definitely need a freshening up after eating!), are hydrating, and are very transitional. I canwear the lighter shades year round and the darker shades with lots of different color schemes. Overall, they’re perfect lipsticks for fall!

Which Shade is for You?
I packed all of them for my New England trip and wore one every single day, haha! My favorites are Russet, Toasty, and Terracotta. Russet is a beautiful deep brown that’s rich without being too dark. Toasty is a soft mauve that has a brown undertone, making it really pretty for a darker nude lip. Terracotta is a brighter red/brown with an orange undertone. This shade isn’t for everybody, but I personally love orange-toned lipsticks so this really works for me!
A few other shades are Mulberry, Rosewood, and Sultry Spice. Mulberry is a rich deep purple. When you blot a little bit off, it’s a beautiful shade. Rosewood is a nice lighter plum color, and Sultry Spice is a darker red with hints of a brown undertone. It’s really nice for a toned-down red lip. There’s some snaps of me wearing the shades on my Instagram if you want to check it out! They’re saved under my makeup story highlights.
If you want to try any of the fall lipsticks out, hurry up and run to your local studio! They’re available while supplies last. If you’re in Olney or nearby, swing by the Olney Merle Norman studio and come play! We’re open seven days a week, and we can ship to you wherever you are! You can also follow the store’s Instagram and Facebook accounts to stay up to date on the newest products we get in stock.
Lastly, if you liked this post and would be interested in reading more beauty posts, please leave a comment below and let me know. Sometimes I have no clue if I’m writing to no one or if people do like reading my posts. Every little bit of engagement is helpful!
