East Coast Weekend Getaway
This is a super spur-of-the-moment blog post and I love it! I went to Bethany Beach with my boyfriend for our annual family beach vacation and took a bunch of pretty pictures. So I’m sharing them here and talking about why Bethany Beach is the perfect east coast weekend getaway!
Some of the activities we did during our east coast weekend getaway included: Stand up paddle boarding at Coastal Kayak, indulging in Sandy Pony Donuts, and grabbing a drink at Big Chill Beach Club (heads up, there’s an entrance fee of 5 bucks for Delaware residents, 10 bucks for out of state). We also met our favorite cast member from Southern Charm, Craig Conover!!! We were so excited to see him that we forgot to double check the meet up location and went to the wrong one. Despite that little bump, we were able to meet him and chat for a little bit!

And of course, we hung out on the beach. Bethany Beach is very family oriented. I’ve been going there every year for as long as I can remember. When I was a teen, I thought it was so lame to go to Bethany because all kids my age would do is get dressed up and walk around the boardwalk. But now that I’m in my twenties I really appreciate a more laid back beach town like Bethany (which is ironic considering my age haha, I’m just not much of a partier!). I also love exercising at the beach. Whether it’s sunrise yoga on the sand (which I haven’t done yet, but would like to one year!) or going for a run around town, Bethany Beach is a super active community and it’s way more fun exercising there than at the gym!
Another activity you can do is explore Ocean City. I personally don’t like staying in OC because it’s always so loud and crowded. What’s nice about staying in Bethany, is that you can easily go down to Ocean City for a night out and come back to a quiet area for bedtime! It’s just a straight shot down the road.

One last detail about the trip; I used this self tanner by Loving Tan and LOVED IT. I posted about it on my Instagram stories a lot last weekend. It has a really nice olive base so it isn’t orange, and so I still look really tan even 5 days later! It’s pricey, however I think it’s worth investing in a good self tanner since bad looking tans can be quite damaging!
I know it’s easy to get discouraged when planning a weekend getaway because factors like driving, no lag time between the following work week, and tight schedules come into play. But, it’s up to you to decide whether the benefits outweigh those costs, and if it’s worth it. This past weekend, the benefits definitely outweighed the costs. Even though our beach trip was short lived (and we’re still recovering from lack of sleep), we had a lovely time. If you haven’t been yet, it’s not too late to plan a quick weekend getaway at Bethany Beach!
